摘要

Developing an alternative income source made rejoining the family farm an easier choice for this young man. Brian Shouse had a strong inkling he'd eventually wind up being involved in his family's grain operation. But like many young people growing up in modern-day farming's pressure-packed environment, he opted to explore some alternatives first. After finishing high school in the mid-1990s, Brian entered the University of Kentucky and studied ag economics with emphasis on financial and agribusiness management. During a senior class project at UK, he became well-acquainted with a crop insurance agent. That relationship led to a job selling crop insurance following graduation. The new job, by its very nature, also put Brian in a good position to return to the family farm, which he soon did.
