Who is going to get the story of agriculture to the people? Are chiledren missing something in their lives today, comparcd with the children who were raisd on the farm in earlier thimes? Bob Harrell believes many of them are. "I call it 'connection,'"he says. "In so many areas it seems that kids growing up today, even kids in rural areas, are disconnected from their farming heritage. They are disconnected from understanding the world of nature and how everything on this planet is interrelated. "Whenwe break that connection, even in our basic understanding of it, it means we don't appreciate the past. We don't appreciate the soil. We don't appreciate how farmers work so hard to produce our food. We don't appreciate the role of wildlife in the world. We don't appreciate the role of everything else that has been created."
