摘要

Johnson and Yee (2020) conducted a qualitative review of a one-day training course for staff working with individuals with disability intended to support staff to identify abuse and neglect. This study involved both staff training and provision of resources to facilitate disclosure of abuse. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) requires that individuals have a right to freedom from exploitation, violence and abuse (Bartlett Schulze, 2017). In Australia, 47 of adults with disabilities have experienced violence and 32 experience high to very high psychological stress (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2019). The currently ongoing Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability is exploring issues relating to abuse and neglect that is experienced by people with disabilities. As such, the article by Johnson and Yee is important and timely.
