International tea prices stabilised in February, as slightly lower prices in Mombasa and Calcutta offset improved prices at the Colombo auction. The three-auction average fell slightly to US$2,147 per kg in February, down by just 4 cents from the previous month. In US dollar terms. In Mombasa, average prices fell to US$2,118 per kg in February, down by around 8 cents on the previous month. Prices in Calcutta fell to USS1,782 per kg, down 12 cents when compared to January. In contrast, average pricesin Colombo rose to US$2,543 per kg - up by 10 cents from the previous month.
