摘要

abstract_textpNumerous factors may be involved in recurrent urinary tract infections in women: bladder outlet obstruction, uropathogenic Escherichia coli, bladder polyps, urethrovaginal malformation, and so on. The objective of this study was to report a case of a 26-year-old woman who presented to the hospital for recurrent post coital urinary tract infection. Clinical examination revealed partial longitudinal vaginal septum. Cystoscopy, hysteroscopy, and pelvic sonography revealed no bladder, uterine or adnexal abnormality. The resection of the vaginal septum was performed under general anesthesia. No per operative or post operative complication was noted. Pathology confirmed the diagnosis of vaginal septum. The Foley catheter was removed immediately after surgery and the patient was discharged the same day. Three months later, no recurrence of urinary infection was observed. In conclusion, although less than half of the vaginal septa are symptomatic enough to require surgical treatment, this case shows that it may cause recurrent urinary tract infections./p/abstract_text
