摘要

The assembly of isotropic nanomaterials into anisotropic hierarchical structures is a fundamental challenge in nano-chemistry. This challenge is akin to imparting chirality into achiral molecules, which has been one of the main objectives of organic chemistry for over a century. In nanoscience, methods have been developed for organizing inorganic nanomaterials at a range of length scales. Specific examples include the use of biological synthons, such as DNA and proteins or peptides, the use of immiscible liquid-liquid interfaces, the use of ligands or surfactants,' and the use of diblock copolymers.
