To say the Kerik brothers of northern fllberta are sold on the Treeking stroke processing head is an understatement. Rot only do the hardwood loggers run three of the rugged units, they now manufacture the heads themselues. Les Kerik of Grande Prairie, AB brings new meaning to the term logger entrepreneur. Together with brother Neil, he has run Kerik Brothers Enterprises Ltd. for over 18 years. During that time he has also worked as a forest operations consultant in a host of exotic locales, including Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Belgium and New Zealand, and helped equipment manufacturers like the hometown favourites at Risley in machine design and prototype testing. Now the 45-year-old logger and his brother are launching a new venture, Kerik Technologies Inc. (KTI), to manufacture, market and service a line of stroke processing heads originally developed in Sweden by Treeking. Kerik Bros, started out as a customer of Treeking, running the first of their heads in Canada in a steady diet ofaspen. As the commercial goes, they liked the head so much, they bought it - or at least the design rights. The brothers now run three of the strokers as their operation's exclusive processing power, and as of early 2006 will be making a Canadian version right out of a new shop in Grande Prairie.
