Okay, maybe not easy, but using bunchers up front and a grapple saw for sorting and slashing has at least made the business more manageable for Ontario's Beauer Ualley Forest Products. Skilled labour, or the lack of it, is a major challenge for almost every hardwood logger. What was once a labour-intensive segment continues to change rapidly, as scarce manual cutters and buckets in hardwood crews like the Dins-mores' are being replaced by feller buncher and slasher/grapple saw operators.
