Logging contractors near Timmins, OH, are in the midst of a wholesale conuersion to CTL logging as part of Domtar's plans to improue log utilization, quality, and enuironmental performance. A betting man would have given long odds even a year ago to anyone foolish enough to wager that northeastern Ontario logging contractors Claude D'Amours, Day Contracting or Foleyet Timber would all convert to cut-to-length (CTL) logging in the near future. The three, whose operations have all been featured in CFIin recent years, have run highly successful full-tree operations for years. Together with contractors Nighthawk Timber and Paul Plamondon, they are responsible for over 95% of the volume cut by Domtar's Timmins operation.
