Aleutian Disease (AD) is a world wide problem that affects mink (1) In the Nelheilands some larmers attribute the disease to sea gulls In Utah, farms elose to one another are affected most. Birds or other animals appear to be involved in trasmitting the infection from one farm to another. Farms four or more miles apart do not seem to get the disease, but in some ares in the Northeastern United States and other countries where farms are separated by greater distances, there are still some problems with the disease even on farms that have guard fences.
