Paracyclophanes with 1.1 and 0.0 bridges are of considerable interest due to their high strain energy and because the pi systems are strongly bent.Tricyclohexane 1 can be looked at as either a superphane with ethylene as the pi system or as a 0,0-paracyclophane (Scheme 1).
