Comparative performance of seven fungicides belonging to triazole, dithiocarbamate and chloronitrile groups was evaluated against Colletotrichum capsici, causal agent of chilli fruit rot under ll; vitro and in vivo conditions for two seasons. Under invitro, tebuconazole (ED50 24 ug/ml) was found to be the most effective followed by myclobutanil (ED^ 43 fig/ml), hexaconazole (ED^ 59 fig/ml), chlorothalonil (EDj,, 115 ug/ml) and difenconazole (ED^ 135 u.g/ ml) against C. capsici. Dithiocarbamate fungicides propineb 310 ug/ml) and mancozeb (E 473 ug/ml) were relatively inferior among the test fungicides. Under field conditions, triazole fungicides tebuconazole, hexaconazole, myclobutanil and chloronitrile fungicide chlorthalonil were effective in descending order against fruit rot for two consecutive seasons. Dithiocarbamate fungicides propineb and mancozeb were found to be comparatively inferior than the rest of the test fungicides.
