Occurrence of capsicum powdery mildew under protected conditions in Himachal Pradesh

Greenhouse-rown vegetables especially tomato, capsicum and cucumber are gaining momentum in Himachal Pradesh as growers are getting attractive prices. Capsicum, also known as sweet pepper, bell pepper or Shimla Mirch is one of the popular vegetables grown in protected structures. Climatic conditions inside these naturally ventilated greenhouses is generally warm and humid, which is ideal for raising crops but also provides congenial conditions for development of many pathogens (Hussey et al, 1967; Jarvis, 1992) especially leaf spotting and fruit rotting fungi.
