Managing resource conservation in the USA

The Minerals Management Service (MMS) is a bureau in the United States Department of the Interior responsible for managing the nation's oil, natural gas, and other mineral resources on the outer continental shelf (OCS). MMS ensures that these resources are explored for, developed and produced in a safe and environmentally sound manner and that development of these finite and non-renewable resources are conducted according to the principles of resource conservation.
