The repair of damaged parts of the hot-blastcircuit of blast furnaces by reactive projection has beenexperimented for the first time at Sollac Fos. This techniqueconsists in spraying a reactive material so as to restore the initialprofile of the damaged zones. Endoscopic monitoring is used toguide the operation. A global maintenance plan based on thistechnique has been established for the mixers and hot air outlets.Burner related problems could be solved by the regeneration ofthe diffuser grids using ceramic spheres.
