Yara to cease operations at Pardies

Norwegian fertilizer company Yara is planning to cease operations at its Pardies plant in southwest France, because it lacks scalability and export competitiveness. The plant has a production capacity of about 100,000 t/yr of technical ammonium nitrate and 6,000 t/yr of calcium nitrate. “We regret to inform our employees and other stakeholders that we are considering closing the Yara Pardies plant and seeking buyers interested in taking over the plant,” Yara chief executive Svein Tore Holsether said. The company said it has not determined a timeline for the closure, but the process is likely to be completed within a year or two.
