50 years iED as a Member

This year (2011) I celebrate my 50th year as an IED member; these few notes reminisce about this and also briefly outline my life in the UK and New Zealand. Between 1954 and 1960 I completed a six year mechanical engineering apprenticeship, ending up as a toolmaker/designer, with SA Monk Ltd in Sutton-in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. It was a comprehensive apprenticeship and one that enabled me to set off on a career in engineering with a certain amount of confidence.
