摘要

Not only the diverse functionalities but also the aesthetic pleasures of highly symmetrical molecules fascinate chemists. In 1952, Eiland and Pepinsky reported the molecular structure of ferrocene in the solid state (Cp2Fe, Cp = η~5-C5H5) which represents the first example of an attractive sandwich molecule. To date, numerous metallocene complexes have been synthesized and found wide application. In 2006, Vollhardt and co-workers reported the syntheses and molecular structures of hexaferrocenylbenzene (C6Fc6, Fc = (η~5-C5H4)FeCp) and the penta(ferrocenyl)cyclopentadienyl tricarbonyl manganese complex (η~5-C5Fc5)Mn(CO)3.
