摘要

Carbon dioxide is an important terrestrial volatile that is often considered to exist in the deep Earth interior. The presence of carbon dioxide or carbonates in the Earth's mantle strongly affect the stability of partially molten rocks in subducting slabs and magma, and the mantle's physical properties (e.g. density, conductivity, and diffusivity). In various thermal and chemical conditions, carbon dioxide converts into a wide variety of chemical species such as diamond, graphite, carbon monoxide, carbonates, and hydrocarbons. Thus, the chemical and physical stabilities of carbon dioxide at high pressures and temperatures is critical to understanding the origin and budget of Earth's deep carbon species.
