The fabrication of nano-and micrometer-sized containers has attracted significant recent interest. Such containers have wide applications, especially in biochemistry and biophysics, where they can mimic the confinements typical of a cell. Micrometer-sized enclosures have been made from phospholipids, lipids, polymers, and emulsions.
