摘要

The conceptual model approach to rainfall runoff modelling lies intermediate between physically based models and black box models. Generally this term is used to describe models which rely on simple arrangement of a relatively small number (say 3 to 6) of elements, each element representing a segment of land phase of hydrologic cycle. The elements which are most commonly used in the conceptual models are reservoirs and channels. The modelling basically consists of a set of rules to determine moistureflow from one element to another. Because of this, these models are computationally very efficient and pose very small computational requirements in terms of computer time and memory. The input data requirements for such models are also quite modest and can be easily met with, particularly in the Indian context.
