Paper producers are more and more dependent on detailed information about surface topography today-due to a number of changes and developments in printing and manufacturing technology and rising cost pressures.Based on this information,they are able to systematically optimise the production process to meet growing demands on print quality,optical properties and printability.Reliable printability forecasts require a measuring system which is at the same time simple,fast,reliable,and sufficiently accurate across a wide measuring range.The InfiteFocus is an optical 3D measuring system meeting these demands:it permits non-contact measurements of paper surfaces at a vertical resolution of up to 10nm.The InfiteFocus enables papermakers to directly measure roughness and smoothness parameters as well as the local homogeneity of paper,thus providing the basis for well-founded quality assurance measures.
