Experimental techniques for determining the structure of high frequency waves impressed on an intense relativistic electron beam

Techniques developed to measure the amplitude, wavelength and azimuthal mode structure of high frequency (a few hundred MHz) waves impressed on an intense relativistic electron beam are described. The details of a wave probe array, two different signal processing schemes and data reduction methods are discussed. Sample data illustrating the use of these techniques, including a multihyphen;probe wavelength measurement made on a single machine firing are presented.
