Hydraulic characteristics of meandering mobile bed compound channels

The experimental arrangement for exam- ining the hydrauliccharacteristics of overbank flows in a meandering mobile bed compoundchannel at the UK Flood Channel Facility (FCF) is described. The FCFwas designed to bridge the gap Between small and prototype scales andHas been used in a series of experiments On straight compound, skewedand fixed- Bed meandering channels. For the present Study thesinusoidal meandering main Channel had a mobile sand bed. SeveralOverbank flows were measured with smooth or roughened floodplains.
