More Than Just a Name

With this issue, we are proud to unveil a new focus for the journal that we believe reflects the current trends and future evolution of the field of disease management-namely, population health. It is not news to the readers of this journal that health care in the United States is in a state of crisis. Health care is a key topic of the current presidential campaign, particularly as policy makers search for a way to provide coverage for the uninsured. This is a laudable and worthy goal; all Americans deserve coverage. But even if everyone had insurance coverage the health care system still would be broken.
