Treatment of rats with an ethionine plus adenine or a methionine diet leads not only to a marked increase of theα-form isozyme ofS-adenosylmethionine synthetase in liver, but also to the accumulation of comparable amounts ofS-adenosylethionine andS-adenosylmethionine in liver.
