Hydromotor: a novel low-head hydraulic machine

the Hydromotor is a novel pisitive- displacement hydraulicmachine, designed for power production from low-head sources. Itcomprises a pair of interlocking multi-lobed rotors, revolving aboutparallel axes within a closely-fitting casing. The rotor lobeprofiles are of original shape, avoiding the occurrence of hydrauliclocking. Laboratory tests are described, on a small prototype machine(rotor diameter 182 mm), with results showing good overall efficiencyat head differences below 1 m.
