摘要

Nitrogen oxides (NO_χ) play a key role in the phenomenon of photochemical smog and influence the climate. A good knowledge of the intensities of their sources is needed for successful modeling of the corresponding phenomena. The available databases on emissions of atmospheric gases are the result of gathering and processing of available statistical information about individual sources and their groups (such as transport, power engineering, and others). At the same time, the progress in satellite sounding of the lower atmosphere in recent years has opened a new independent information source about NO_χ emissions. In particular, the authors of 1, 2 found significant variations in the measured content of tropospheric nitrogen dioxide during the period 1996-2005, which can evidence the corresponding variations in NO_χ emissions.
