A method for approximately taking into account the impact parameter in describing the input channel of fusion-fission nuclear reactions is considered. The investigation is performed by addressing the example of collisions of atomic nuclei in S-36 + U-238 hot synthesis reactions. The fusion of nuclei is described by solving the set of stochastic Langevin equations. The calculations are performed in the approximation of frozen deformation and orientation degrees of freedom of colliding nuclei. The results obtained by calculating the probability for the capture of a projectile nucleus by a target nucleus, as well as the capture cross sections, are compared with their counterparts obtained in a rougher approximation that was used in earlier model versions. It is shown that a more accurate inclusion of the impact parameter in the calculation has a significant effect on the capture cross sections in the reaction being considered and shifts substantially the results of the simulation toward experimental data.
