A new set of phenomenological optical model potential parameters has been obtained for the elastic scattering of deuteron from doubly magic nuclei (He-4, O-16, Ca-40, and Pb-208). The Woods-Saxon potential was employed into the optical model potential. A comparison has been made between the extracted fitting parameters and recently published global set parameters. At specific incident deuteron energy, we found that our obtained parameters are in a good agreement with those global parameters at available energy interval. The optical model also predicted the differential cross section and the Rutherford ratio which are in good agreement with the experimental data for deuteron elastically scattered off doubly magic nuclei. To detect the effect of targets on the differential cross section and Rutherford ratio results a comparison of different doubly magic nuclei at different incident deuteron energies were analyzed.
