摘要

(Abstracted from BJOG 2022;129(13):2176–2183 Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) affects approximately 1 in 16 women in the United Kingdom. Screening for GDM involves a 2-hour, 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 24 to 28 weeks of gestation; a fasting value of plasma glucose of ≥5.6 mM or 2-hour plasma glucose level of ≥7.8 mM indicates GDM. However, as pregnancy progresses, levels of hormones, particularly placental lactogen, change and increase insulin resistance.
