摘要

The cohort of Queensland members have been provided with an excellent series of lectures in February and May.To start the year, Dr Teodora Kent spoke about her research into the depth and distance perception of dentists and dental students. This study involved participation from 20 experienced dentists and 163 undergraduates from three year groups. The results of her research showed that the ability to estimate depth and distance improved with experience. These tests also showed, what we already know, that a dentist's estimate of a millimetre is smaller than the real distance of a millimetre.Dr Matthew Athanassiadis was unable to present his lecture and the society was very grateful to Dr Bill Kahler who came at short notice to present at the February meeting. Bill provided an update on the progress he has been making with regenerative endodontic techniques. Bill has had the opportunity to apply regenerative techniques to a number of trauma cases, stimulating the stem cells of the apical papilla through the open apex of immature teeth.
