When I was working in computer vision, I always had the impression that the math is cleaner and more productive in computer graphics. Its success stories are commonplace: Hollywood blockbusters and immersive video games become more compelling with the passing years. Computer graphics in cinema was the centerpiece of this year's IS&T Color Imaging Conference (in Los Angeles, of course), where several historical presentations showcased the dazzling progress. Fortunately, I was reading Steven Gortler's Foundations of 3D Computer Graphics, which enhanced my conference experience.
