An earlier issue of Quality Engineering briefly discussed a German proposal for a standard relating to the concept that in many processes the value of the average and the standard deviation may change as the process is operated over time. ISO TC 69 Subcommittee 4 has prepared a Committee Draft of a new standard related to this proposal. The draft is based on the concept that it is not common for a process to remain in a "... normally distributed, stationary state."
