Scorpio spree

Scorpio Tankers has been on an ordering spree with eight LR2 'eco' product tankers, four 52,000dwt MR product tankers and two Handymax 37,000dwt Ice Class product tankers putting raised equity proceeds to work. Scorpio's first contract is for two 114,000dwt LR2 product tankers at Hyundai Samho HI costing $49.75M each with deliveries in 3Q14 with two fixed-priced options being arranged as part of the deal. Scorpio has also contracted four more 114,000dwt LR2 product tankers at $50M each, again at Hyundai Samho for 2014 delivery. Meanwhile, the rapidly expanding company placed orders for a further two 114,000dwt LR2 product tankers at Daewoo Shipbuilding, again at $50M each and delivery in 2014.
