Project to 'reduce emissions by 65'

Classification society DNV and Process Systems Enterprise (PSE), a provider of process modelling technology, released results of the Maritime carbon capture and storage (CCS) research and development project on 12 February. The project included a concept design for onboard CO_2 capture. The system consists of a chemical absorption plant that separates CO_2 from flue gases; a liquefaction unit in which the captured CO2 is compressed and condensed using a refrigerant; two storage tanks in which the liquid CO_2 is stored until discharge into transmission and storage infrastructures at port.
