Waertsilae engine has the 'X' factor

In tune with operators' efficiency-driven shift to reduced service speeds and use of larger-diameter propellers, Waertsilae has upgraded one of its most modern two-stroke engine designs targeting crude carriers and ore carriers of 200,000dwt+, and also Pan-amax container vessels. The RT-flex82T common-rail diesel has been re-launched in a 'B' version, and re-branded as the Waertsilae X82 engine, offering a 5 power increase for a lower unit fuel consumption. Moreover, the new 820mm-bore model has an enlarged rating field, affording greater flexibility and scope in selecting optimum propeller speeds for the lowest daily fuel oil consumption.
