摘要

Developed over a five-year period to harness the capabilities and low-motion behaviour of a semi-submersible vessel in the smallest form feasible, Hallin Marine's CSS Derwent promises industry-leading operability for undertaking subsea services and well intervention. The compact semi-submersible is of semi-SWATH (small waterplane area, twin hull) configuration, and equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system using azimuth-ing thrusters fitted forward and aft in each hull. Contracted by subsea specialist Hallin Marine from Drydocks World, construction of the unique vessel was entrusted to the latter's Nanindah yard in Batam, Indonesia. Final equipment installation is in hand, and sea trials are targeted for August.
