The world's first mechanical-drive, dual-fuel, 1A ice-class LNG carrier, developed by Dutch shipowner Anthony Veder, has been trading since early 2013. The 15,600m~3-capacity Coral Energy was the culmination of a project initiated in 2010 for Skangass. The vessel meets the charterer's requirement for increased capacity for existing customers from its Risavika LNG plant near Stavanger via terminals in Sweden and eastern Norway, while attracting further contracts. In fact, since entering trade, the ship has also carried cargoes to the Spanish market through Port Ferrol.
