Deep sea ro-ro renaissance

The age profile of the global ro-ro cargo ship fleet in service indicates very clearly that such vessels have remarkably long lives compared with other cargo-carrying ships. Analysis of the latest IHS Fairplay database confirms that of the present fleet of 685 vessels, some 52 is represented by ships in excess of 20 years old. Perhaps remarkably, almost 30 of the fleet in terms of ship numbers is now more than 30 years in age.
