FLIES, RODS, reels and lines dominate fly fishing literature, yet the skills needed to attract fish to within fly rod range is rarely covered. Teasing' is standard practice when targeting billfish on the long wand but these tactics are not used oftenenough on smaller pelagic species. Kingfish are making a popular comeback along the New South Wales coast and represent the best inshore gamefish pursuit for fly fishers. The kingfish season will be hitting our southern waters by the time you read this—and the early stage of the season is the most productive.
