CHRISTMAS ISLAND is an isolated atoll several hundred kilometres from anywhere. Sitting almost directly on the equator, it enjoys ideal weather year-round. The island landscape is dominated by a huge shallow lagoon and is widely recognised as one of the world s best bonefishing destinations. Regular Modern Fishing readers might remember my glowing report on this paradise when I was privileged enough to be on Air Pacific's first flight to this remote atoll. Angling Adventures' Garry Barmby and I wereamazed by the consistent fishing on the first trip—and how easy it was to catch the supposedly elusive bonefish. What made the return trip all the more exciting was that I had dragged along Strikezone's cameraman Ron Croft. The original idea was to focus on the bonefish but we quickly discovered there's so much more on this isolated atoll.
