SURF CASTING is making a comeback where I live on the NSW south coast. I see more anglers fishing the beaches and rocks these days. More fish are usually behind any increase in angler participation. Anecdotal evidence suggests there are more Australian salmon around these days, and the tailor fishing seems to be a little better—particularly with larger fish. Depending on your location, you may also be able to hook kingfish, bonito, tuna species and even mulloway.
