摘要

PHIL ATKINSON'S 'River of Weed' feature on page 68 of this issue got me thinking about the dietary habits of freshwater species, and how the availability of food in many regions they inhabit means bait and other fish only represent a fraction of their diets. Lizards, cicadas, frogs, spiders, small birds, rats and almost anything that will fit in the bucket-like mouths offish like murray, eastern and western cod, and even large australian bass, are regular items on the menus of these non-fussy fish.
