Reviewing greenhouse gas emission protocols

Greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting protocols provide rules and guidance for taking inventories of emissions. But the science supporting these methods is limited, and the protocols have not kept up with new research, according to the August issue of Water Environment Research (WER). A team of researchers from The University of Queensland (Australia), Brown and Caldwell (Atlanta), and DC Water (Washington, D.C.) considered the sources of GHG emissions from wastewater, reviewed wastewater-related methodologies in popular protocols, and discussed where research has outpaced these methodologies. Their findings appear in the article, "Wastewater GHG Accounting Protocols as Compared to the State of GHG Science."
