Triclosan found in water sticks around in soil and plants

Triclosan, the bacteria-fighting ingredient found in antibacterial soaps, detergents, and toothpastes, has been known to make its way into water sources. In addition to killing both good and bad bacteria, triclosan also can be toxic to algae and disrupt hormones in animals, according to a Soil Science Society news release.
