As populations surge and water stresses increase, societies are coming to realize the true value of water. This includes the necessity to conserve water resources and protect water quality. In the same regard, industries increasingly are understanding the significance of reliable water supplies and the risks that come with water shortage. In 2015, the World Economic Forum ranked global water crises as the greatest threat facing the world in terms of potential impact. Also, a 2015 water report from CDP (London) - a global, not-for-profit organization that utilizes information disclosure to improve environmental risk management - found that based on data from more than 400 corporations, water impacts have cost businesses more than $2.5 billion this year. More than two-thirds of the reporting companies said their businesses are exposed to substantive risks due to water.
