Matson takes next step to being a standalone entity

US Jones Act carrier Matson Navigation Co has moved a step closer towards becoming a standalone company. Parent company Alexander it Baldwin Holdings Inc (A&-B) has entered into a series of debt-financing agreements as part of a previously announced plan to separate Matson's shipping services from its land businesses and so create two publicly-traded companies.
