Yangtze port to get links boost

The Yangtze river port of Wuhan is to be developed into a 'shipping centre' 'with beefed' up barge and rail links. According to Yangtze Business Services (YBS), this could happen over the next five years. It commented: 'The agreed blueprint is more ambitious than the announcement made in September 2011 by the provincial Government to build it within 10 years.' Wuhan is an important area for box shipping due to its position in the mid-Yangtze River, giving it ready access to the industrial areas of Chongqing and Chengdu.
