Duo to end ECSA/Caribbean tie-up

CMA CGM and Msersk Line's current joint east coast South America-Caribbean ervice arrangement which deploys 5 x 2,700-2,850TEU ships offering weekly calls at Paranagua, Itajai, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Manzanillo (Panama), Kingston, Port of Spain, Santos and return to Paranagua, is expected to end before the end of October 2012. While no specific reasons have been given, the break-up comes at a time when ocean carriers are carefully scrutinising all of their activities in a bid to raise efficiency levels and improve profit margins.
